GLOBAL COOPERATION
COUNCIL has organised some 280 activities since
its inception on 25 February 1983 under the name North-South Forum, exploring the realm of North-South and South-South relations and showing possible paths
that lead to genuine cooperation and promote culture of
peace.
A wide range of issues related to
global affairs were the centrepiece of talks by and panel
discussions with German, African, Asian and Latin American
government leaders, diplomats, parliamentarians, journalists,
academicians as well as representatives of national, regional
and international civil society organisations.
Partners in all these events
included United Nations organisations, the Organisation for
Economic Co-operation and Develpment (OECD), German political
foundations such as the Friedrich Ebert Foundation,
parliamentary parties, Deutsche Welle, DaimlerChrysler, German
Chambers of Commerce and Industry, foreign embassies in Germany,
civil society organisations, and the Europa-Haus Marienberg in
Bad Marienberg.
The GLOBAL COOPERATION COUNCIL
organised jointly with its Global Affairs Media Academy and
IPS-Inter Press Service in Germany seminars for young
journalists in Germany and from abroad on North-South and
South-South issues.
